Chapter 45 - The WeddingThe wedding was nothing like the extravagant, five-hundred-guest spectacle Josephine Blackwood had originally planned.

Emily and Alexander chose to be married in the sprawling, blooming gardens of the estate. It was an intimate, private ceremony, attended only by the people who had truly fought for them.
Arthur officiated the wedding, looking incredibly dignified in a tailored suit, having officially acquired his credentials just for the occasion.
Evelyn walked Emily down the aisle.
Emily wore a simple, breathtaking white gown. There was no heavy veil to hide her face. She walked with the sun on her skin, perfectly balanced, perfectly free.
Daniel stood beside Alexander as his best man.
As Emily reached the altar, Alexander took her hands, his eyes shining with profound love.
“I spent my life studying the law,” Alexander said softly as he read his vows. “I thought justice was something you fought for in a courtroom. But you taught me that true justice is something you build every single day, with the choices you make and the people you protect. I choose to protect you, Emily. For the rest of my life.”
Emily smiled, her heart impossibly full.
“I spent my life waiting for the floor to drop,” Emily said, her voice steady and clear. “I thought power was a weapon used to make people small. But you taught me that power can be shared. You saw the girl who survived the dark, and you helped her build a home in the light. I love you, Alexander.”
Arthur smiled warmly, wiping a small tear from beneath his glasses.
“By the power vested in me, and by the undeniable truth of your bond, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

Alexander pulled Emily into a deep, passionate kiss. The small crowd cheered, the sound echoing through the beautiful gardens.
There were no ghosts lurking in the shadows. There were no manipulative mothers-in-law plotting in the wings. There was only a family, forged in fire, bound by choice, and ready to face the future together.
