Chapter 22 - The Informant
The breakthrough came from an unlikely source.
A young man, barely out of his teens, arrived at the foundation office.
He was terrified.
He worked for the new syndicate.
He was a low-level runner, trapped in a life he didn't want.
He had seen what the foundation did for the community.
He wanted out.
And he had information.
Alessandro met with him personally.
He didn't threaten him.
He didn't offer him money.
He offered him protection.
A new start.
"Why are you helping me?" the boy asked, his hands shaking.
"Because someone once gave me a chance to change," Alessandro said quietly. "Now it's my turn to offer one."
The information was gold.
Locations.
Names.
Operations.
Marco coordinated with the police.
It had to be a clean sweep.
No mistakes.
No collateral damage.
The night of the raid, the mansion was tense.
We waited in the study, listening to the police scanner.
When the call finally came through—"Targets secured"—Alessandro let out a breath he seemed to have been holding for days.
