Chapter 20 - The Anniversary

It was the anniversary of Daniel's death.
A day that used to be filled with anger and silence.
This year, it was different.
We didn't hide from it.
We didn't pretend it didn't hurt.
We honored him.
We visited the cemetery in the morning.
Emma brought a small bouquet of wildflowers.
She placed them carefully on the grave.
"I'm taking good care of Mama," she whispered to the stone. "And Alessandro is taking good care of us."
I felt tears prick my eyes.
Daniel would have loved her so much.
He would have been so proud of the girl she was becoming.
In the afternoon, we held a small ceremony at the foundation.
We dedicated a new wing in his name.
A legal clinic for workers who couldn't afford representation.
Alessandro spoke.
Not as a billionaire CEO.
But as a man who had learned the true cost of unchecked ambition.
"We cannot change the past," he told the crowd. "But we can ensure that the mistakes of the past are never repeated. This clinic is a promise that Daniel Rodriguez's legacy will be one of justice, not tragedy."
As I watched him speak, I knew we had finally found peace.
The anger was gone.
Replaced by purpose.
May you like
Daniel was not forgotten.
He was the foundation upon which we were building our future.
