Chapter 16 - The Foundation

The Daniel Rodriguez Foundation was not just a charity.
It was a promise.
A promise that no family would be broken by corporate greed again.
We focused on education.
On providing legal support for workers.
On rebuilding communities that the old empires had ignored.
Alessandro poured millions into it.
But more importantly, he poured his time.
He wasn't just a name on a letterhead.
He was in the meetings.
He was talking to the people.
He was listening.
One morning, a woman came to the foundation office.
She looked tired.
Worn down by years of fighting a system that didn't care.
She told us her story.
A story of a husband injured on a construction site.
A company that refused to pay.
A family losing their home.
It was a story we had heard too many times.
A story that sounded too much like Daniel’s.
Alessandro listened.
He didn't interrupt.
When she finished, she looked at him, expecting the usual polite dismissal.
"We will take the case," he said simply.
The woman blinked. "But the lawyers said—"
"I don't care what the lawyers said," Alessandro interrupted gently. "I care about what is right. We will help you."
As she left, tears in her eyes, I looked at Alessandro.
The cold, calculating CEO was gone.

Replaced by a man who understood the weight of his power.
And how to use it for good.
