Chapter 6 - The Extraction

|

The hospital administration tried to argue, but true power doesn't argue. It dictates.

Within ten minutes, the Chief of Medicine was staring at documents that authorized a full medical evacuation of Clara to a private, undisclosed location.

“You can’t move her!” Dr. Evans cried from the corner, where two of my men had him zip-tied to a chair. “She’s critically injured!”

“She is critically injured because of you,” I said, not looking at him. “Take him to the warehouse. I’ll deal with him tonight.”

My men dragged the weeping surgeon out of the back exit.

A specialized medical transport team, loyal only to me, arrived with a tactical stretcher. They moved with military precision, transferring Clara’s IVs and monitors to portable, state-of-the-art equipment.

I walked beside her as they wheeled her down the private elevator.

Her face was so pale it blended into the white sheets. I gently took her uninjured hand, pressing it to my lips.

“I’m getting you out of here, Clara,” I whispered against her skin. “Nobody will ever touch you again.”

We reached the underground loading dock. An armored medical transport vehicle was waiting, flanked by heavily armed security personnel.

As they loaded her in, my head of security, Elias, approached me with a tablet.

“Sir, the brothers are attempting to flee the city. Vincent is at the private airstrip. Richard is locking himself inside his estate.”

I looked at the rain falling in the darkness.

“Ground Vincent’s plane. Cut the power to Richard’s estate. I want them trapped in the dark with their thoughts.”

“Yes, Adrian.”

I climbed into the back of the transport. The war had officially begun.
