Chapter 20 - The Unwritten Horizon

Julian opened the velvet box. Inside rested a breathtaking, raw-cut canary diamond ring that caught the ambient lights of the city skyline.
He didn't drop to one knee. He held her gaze as equals, his thumb lightly stroking her cheek.
“I didn't buy this ring to possess you, Evelyn,” Julian said softly, his deep voice rich with emotion. “I bought it because I want to build a world with you. Not as your boss, not as your savior, but as your partner in everything.”
Evelyn looked at the brilliant diamond, then up into the eyes of the man who had stood by her side through the storm.
Her phone on the mahogany desk suddenly chimed with a high-priority alert.
She glanced over his shoulder at the glowing screen.
It was a confidential message from an international diplomatic envoy in London, offering Bennett-Vance Global an exclusive contract to build the next-generation infrastructure network across Western Europe—a deal worth over $50 billion.
It was the opportunity of a lifetime. The chance to establish an empire that transcended New York entirely.
Evelyn looked back at Julian, a slow, radiant, mysterious smile playing across her lips.
She reached out and laid her hand gently over the velvet ring box, looking deep into his eyes.
“Before I answer that question, Julian...” Evelyn murmured softly, her voice filled with ambition, passion, and infinite possibility.
