Chapter 14 - Chloe's True Colors

While Evelyn was restructuring the company, Grant was pacing back and forth in his Soho penthouse like a caged animal.
The front door clicked open.
Chloe walked out into the living room, trailing two heavy Louis Vuitton suitcases behind her. She was dressed in an expensive trench coat and dark sunglasses.
Grant looked up, his eyes burning with anger.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
“I’m leaving, Grant,” Chloe said coldly, pulling her designer purse over her shoulder. “My lawyer advised me to put distance between us until the corporate audit blows over.”
Grant let out a maniacal laugh.
“Your lawyer?! After everything I spent on you? I bought you that necklace! I paid for this penthouse! I gave you everything!”
“And now you have nothing!” Chloe shouted back, dropping her composure. “You’re broke, Grant! Your company was taken, your accounts are frozen, and you’re probably going to jail for embezzlement!”
Grant rushed forward, grabbing the handle of her suitcase.
“You’re carrying my baby, Chloe! You can’t just walk away!”
Chloe pulled a small white envelope from her purse and tossed it casually onto the floor at his feet.
“What is this?” Grant asked, staring down at it.
“A paternity test result from two weeks ago,” Chloe sneered, stepping past him toward the door. “It turns out the baby isn't yours, Grant. It belongs to Tyler, my personal trainer in Miami.”
Grant froze as if struck by lightning. The blood completely drained from his face.
Chloe paused at the open doorway, turning back to give him one last, mocking look.

“Evelyn was right about you,” Chloe laughed cruelly. “You’re just a pathetic loser who got lucky because your daddy built a business. Enjoy bankruptcy!”
She slammed the door behind her, leaving Grant standing alone in the quiet penthouse, surrounded by the ruins of his life.
