Chapter 19 - The New Empire

|

Six months passed.

The name Mercer Dominion had officially been wiped from the business landscape, replaced by the towering silver letters of BENNETT-VANCE GLOBAL atop the Park Avenue skyscraper.

Under Evelyn’s brilliant leadership and Julian’s massive capital backing, the company expanded into renewable energy infrastructure, securing $20 billion in government contracts across Europe and Asia. Stock prices surged to an all-time high.

Grant Mercer had pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud charges to avoid a longer sentence and was currently serving three years in a minimum-security federal prison. Chloe Hart had vanished from New York social circles, her name forever associated with the most embarrassing corporate blunder in Manhattan history.

Inside the sprawling top-floor executive suite of Bennett-Vance Global, Evelyn stood before the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, looking out over the city she now dominated.

A pair of strong, warm arms wrapped gently around her waist from behind.

Evelyn leaned back into Julian’s broad chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart.

“You’re thinking again,” Julian murmured into her hair, kissing her temple softly.

“I was just thinking about how sweet victory tastes when you build it yourself,” she whispered, turning in his arms to look up into his dark, devoted eyes.

Julian smiled, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small, velvet box.

Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat.
