Chapter 29 - The Unwritten Chapter

The next morning, Evelyn sat at the desk in her office. The sun was rising, casting long, golden shadows across the hardwood floor.

She opened a fresh, blank notebook. For years, her life had been dictated by the whims of a tyrant, then by the chaotic demands of a highly publicized divorce and criminal trial.

Now, the pages were completely blank.

She picked up a pen. She didn't know what the next ten years would hold. Maybe she would open sanctuaries in other cities. Maybe she would finally let herself fall in love again. Maybe she would just enjoy the quiet, ordinary peace of a Tuesday morning.

The beauty of it was the freedom. She held the pen, and she was the only author of her story.

She wrote the first word on the blank page: Tomorrow.
