Chapter 24 - The Anniversary

It had been exactly two years since the night Evelyn made the phone call that ended Adrian's empire.
To mark the anniversary, the women of the sanctuary surprised her. When she walked into the dining hall for breakfast, the room was decorated with white roses.
A massive, handwritten banner hung across the wall: TO OUR LIGHTHOUSE.
Clara, the night nurse, stepped forward and handed Evelyn a thick, leather-bound book.
"We made this for you," Clara said, wiping away a tear.
Evelyn opened the book. Inside were handwritten letters from every woman who had ever passed through the sanctuary's doors. Stories of finding hope, securing jobs, regaining custody of children, and finding peace.

Evelyn’s hands trembled. She pressed the book to her chest, overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the love surrounding her.
"You are my family," Evelyn whispered to the room. "All of you."
