Chapter 22 - Maya's Departure

Six months after the trial, Maya packed her bags.

She wasn't running. She was relocating to Paris to study fashion design—a dream Marcus had violently forbidden her from pursuing.

Evelyn stood by the front doors as the taxi idled in the driveway. Maya looked radiant. The bruises were long gone, replaced by a fierce, undeniable glow of independence.

"I don't know how to thank you," Maya said, hugging Evelyn tightly.
