Chapter 26 - The New Generation

The sanctuary welcomed its youngest arrival yet—a newborn baby boy, born to a young mother who had sought refuge at Blackthorn three months prior.

Evelyn held the tiny infant in the sunroom, rocking him gently as the morning light poured through the windows. The baby gripped her finger with surprising strength.

"He’s beautiful," Evelyn said, handing him back to his exhausted but smiling mother.

"I named him Leo," the mother said softly. "Because he is going to be brave."

Evelyn smiled. "He won't have to be brave all the time. He will be safe. And that is even better."

She realized that the work she was doing wasn't just saving women; it was rewriting the futures of the next generation. Leo would never know the sound of screaming in the night. He would only know the sound of laughter in the halls of Blackthorn.
