Chapter 56 - Welcome to Macao

|

Macao was a neon-soaked playground for the world's most dangerous billionaires. The skyline was dominated by towering casinos, luxury hotels, and a perpetual haze of humidity and vice.

We rented the penthouse suite of the Grand Lotus Casino, transforming it into an impenetrable fortress. Elias had flown in forty of our best Syndicate enforcers from New York, locking down every elevator, stairwell, and ventilation shaft in the building.

"The dark web is going crazy, Boss," Jax said, sitting at his command station in the living room, surrounded by monitors showing the casino's security feeds. "The rumor of the auction has spread like wildfire. We have Russian oligarchs, cartel bosses, and independent arms dealers all booking flights to Macao."

"Good," I said, standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, watching the glittering city below. I wore a stunning, backless emerald gown, my hair swept up elegantly. A custom, miniaturized derringer was strapped securely to my thigh beneath the silk.

"Have we heard anything from the Kurokawa Clan?" I asked.

"Nothing official," Elias reported, adjusting his tuxedo jacket. "But my scouts on the casino floor noticed a sudden influx of heavily tattooed men arriving at the blackjack tables over the last hour. The Yakuza is here, Emily. They are casing the building."

"They won't strike in the open," I analyzed. "The Ghost is too smart for that. He knows the algorithm is digital. He won't try to shoot his way in; he will try to slice his way in."

"I have our servers isolated on a closed-loop network," Jax assured me. "The only way to access the algorithm is to physically plug a drive into the master terminal in the VIP auction room down the hall."

"That's exactly what I'm counting on," I smiled coldly.

A soft chime echoed through the penthouse. The private elevator doors opened.

"The guests are arriving, Sovereign," Elias said, his hand resting casually near his concealed weapon.

"Let the games begin," I replied, turning away from the window and walking toward the VIP suite. The Ghost was coming, and I was going to rip the mask off his face.
