Chapter 55 - The Hidden Code

|

I slammed the phone down on the console.

"Jax, did you find a quantum algorithm inside the Genesis Code?" I demanded, my pulse quickening.

Jax looked panicked. He pulled up the master files we had decrypted in Paris. "Boss, the Genesis Code was massive. Terabytes of data. I scanned it for financial ledgers, blackmail, and communication logs. I didn't look for weapons tech. Give me a second."

He ran a deep diagnostic search on the decrypted drive. A hidden, heavily partitioned folder suddenly popped up on the screen, locked behind a secondary wall of military-grade encryption.

"He's right," Jax whispered, his eyes wide. "There’s a dormant file here. It’s a blueprint for a quantum decryption engine. It’s a cyber-weapon, Emily. Whoever possesses this algorithm could theoretically bypass any digital security network in the world. Banks, military grids, intelligence agencies... it would all be completely open."

"Victoria was building a skeleton key," Elias realized, looking horrified. "She was going to use it to blackmail world governments, not just Syndicate bosses."

"And she contracted the Yakuza to build it for her," I deduced, pacing the floor of the cabin. "When I killed Victoria, the Yakuza lost their buyer and their product. Now they want it back."

"If we give it to them, they will rule the digital world," Jax warned. "If we don't, they will send an army of assassins to our doorstep."

"We aren't giving them a damn thing," I said, stopping my pacing and looking at the encrypted file on the screen. "We are going to use it to destroy them."

"How?" Elias asked.

"We draw the Ghost out of hiding," I explained, a dangerous plan forming in my mind. "We leak a rumor on the dark web that the American Sovereign is hosting a private auction for the quantum algorithm in Macao. We invite the highest bidders in the criminal underworld. The Ghost won't let someone else buy his weapon. He will have to show up in person to steal it back."

"A fake auction?" Elias smiled grimly. "That’s bold, Boss. If they call our bluff, we’re dead in the water."

"Then we make sure it looks incredibly real," I said. "Pack your bags, gentlemen. We are going to Asia."
