Chapter 14 - Rising from the Ashes

The warehouse was an inferno. The explosion had collapsed the roof, trapping Dominic beneath a massive steel beam. Smoke choked the air, and the heat was unbearable.
Dominic groaned, pushing against the steel. His muscles screamed, and his recently stitched wound tore open, soaking his shirt in fresh blood. Beside him, Don Russo lay dead, crushed by debris.
"Boss!" a muffled voice cried out.
Through the smoke, two of Dominic's loyal men appeared. They jammed a crowbar under the beam, straining with all their might. With a localized groan of metal, they lifted it just enough for Dominic to drag himself free.
He stood up, coughing violently, covered in ash and blood. He looked like a demon rising from hell.
"Get me a phone," Dominic rasped.
One of his men handed him a scorched cell phone. Dominic dialed Marco's number. It rang four times before Marco answered, his voice weak and ragged.
"Boss..." Marco coughed. "They breached the bunker. Inside job. I'm sorry."
Dominic's blood ran cold. "Sophia? Lily?"
"The girl escaped. We found her in the tunnels, safe," Marco breathed. "But they took Sophia. Alessandro's men. They left a message. He's at the old shipyard."

A terrifying calmness washed over Dominic. It was the absolute, freezing calm of a man who was about to commit unspeakable violence.
"Gather every man we have," Dominic ordered softly. "Bring heavy artillery. Tonight, the Moretti family cleans house."
