"Let me go!" Sophia screamed, thrashing wildly.
A tall man in a ski mask slammed her against the wall, pressing a cold gun barrel to her temple. "Shut up, bitch."
Lily peaked out from the tunnel, sobbing. "Mommy!"
"Run, Lily! Don't look back! Hide!" Sophia shrieked, right before the man struck her across the face, knocking her unconscious.
When Sophia woke up, her head was pounding. She was tied to a chair in a damp, freezing room that smelled of rust and seawater. Her hands were bound behind her back with zip ties.
She blinked away the dizziness, looking around. The room was empty, save for a single lightbulb hanging from the ceiling. Panic set in. Where was Lily? Did she get away?
The heavy metal door scraped open, and Alessandro walked in. He looked disheveled, his suit torn, and there was a frantic, unhinged look in his eyes.
"You've caused me a lot of trouble, maid," he sneered, pulling up a chair and sitting backward on it to face her.
"Where is my daughter?" Sophia hissed.
"The little rat got away in the tunnels. My men couldn't fit," Alessandro spat. "But it doesn't matter. I don't need her. I have you. And my brother will do anything for you."

"You lost," she spat. "Dominic went to the Commission. They know you stole from them."
Alessandro laughed, a manic, desperate sound. "The Commission is dead. I had my men blow the warehouse while I walked out the back. Dominic is trapped in the rubble. And soon, I will rule everything."
