Chapter 3 - The Unseen Seam|

Alexander didn't move for three long seconds. His eyes were wide, fixed on the small gap between the titanium door and its steel frame.

"How...?" Richard Blake stammered, standing up so fast his leather chair scraped violently against the hardwood floor. "Alexander... how did she do that? The engineers from Zurich said that door was impenetrable without the thirty-two digit cypher!"

Alexander ignored him. He stepped forward, his polished Italian leather shoes clicking heavily against the floorboards. He looked down at the three-year-old girl in the oversized T-shirt.

Sofie looked up at him, entirely unfazed. "It opened, mister. Do I get the money now?"

Elena rushed forward, grabbing Sofie and pulling her tightly against her chest. She backed away toward the cleaning cart, shielding her daughter with her own body.

"Mr. Carter, I'm so sorry!" Elena gasped, her voice trembling. "She didn't mean to touch it! We'll go right now, we won't come back, just please—"

"Where did you get her?" Alexander whispered, his voice dangerously low.

Elena blinked, terrified. "What?"

"Where did you get this child?!" Alexander shouted, his composure shattering completely. He took three aggressive steps toward them. "Who taught her to press that seam?!"

"Nobody!" Elena cried, pulling Sofie closer as the little girl began to whimper. "She’s three years old! She was just playing!"

"That seam isn't on the blueprints!" Alexander roared, his face contorting in rage. "Only one person in the world knew that override existed! And she died eight years ago!"

The executives in the room exchanged bewildered, frantic looks. None of them had ever seen Alexander Carter—the ruthless billionaire who controlled half the shipping ports on the East Coast—lose control like this.

Alexander reached out, grabbing Elena’s wrist with a crushing grip. "Who is her father?"
