Chapter 15 - The Grand Opening|

One year later.
The street outside the newly renovated Carter Community Center in downtown Queens was packed with hundreds of local families, news reporters, and city officials.
The building—formerly an abandoned warehouse—had been transformed into a state-of-the-art facility featuring free childcare, vocational training, legal aid, and a medical clinic.
A bright red ribbon was stretched across the glass front entrance.
Elena stood in the center of the stage, wearing a stunning green suit, holding a pair of giant golden ribbon-cutting scissors. Beside her stood Sarah, looking proud and radiant, holding four-year-old Sofie’s hand.
News cameras flashed rapidly as the Mayor of New York stepped up to the microphone.
"Today," the Mayor announced to the cheering crowd, "we celebrate two extraordinary women who turned a dark story of betrayal into a beacon of hope for thousands of working mothers across our city!"
The crowd erupted into thunderous applause.
Elena looked out at the sea of smiling faces—mothers holding their babies, grandmothers wiping away happy tears, children playing with colorful balloons.
She looked down at Sofie, who was wearing a beautiful white dress with a small green ribbon pinned to her lapel.
"Ready, Sofie?" Elena asked warmly, handing her daughter one handle of the giant golden scissors.
"Ready, Mommy!" Sofie cheered.
Together, Elena, Sarah, and little Sofie pressed the heavy blades together.
