Chapter 32

CHAPTER 32 — THE PROTOCOL OF 1954
The tactical extraction was flawless. Victoria’s white-clad commandos moved like ghosts, loading the family into a sleek, unregistered tilt-rotor aircraft hidden in a nearby ravine. As the aircraft cleared the mountain peaks, the bunker below was swallowed by a massive, controlled thermite explosion, erasing their digital and physical footprints forever.
Inside the pressurized cabin, Alexander sat with a fresh medical wrap on his shoulder, staring at his grandmother.
"If you've been alive this whole time, why now?" Alexander demanded. "Why let Eleanor die? Why let Claire rot in Haven Ridge for eight years?"
"Because Eleanor was compromised," Victoria replied, staring out the window at the sprawling dark forests below. "She became sentimental. She thought she could protect Claire by locking her away and paying off the Lanes. She didn't realize that by keeping Claire alive in that facility, she was leaving a breadcrumb trail straight to the secondary assets."
Victoria opened a secure digital briefcase, revealing a glowing glass tablet.
"In 1954, your grandfather established the Genesis Protocol."
"It states that if the Whitmore name is ever publicly tarnished beyond repair, the entire estate defaults to a closed shadow entity."
"That entity can only be unlocked by a synchronized biometric scan of three generations of first-born daughters."
Claire’s breath hitched. "Me. Lily. And... you."
"Precisely," Victoria nodded. "Eleanor’s death was tragic, but her legal deadlock was useless against Thomas's federal injunctions. Thomas has already mobilized the FBI to seize our domestic vaults. But he doesn't know that the domestic vaults are empty. The real wealth—the data that controls the global shipping lanes—is stored in a decommissioned naval fortress off the coast of Maine. We are going there to activate the protocol, wipe Thomas out of the financial system, and reset the family legacy."
Claire looked down at Lily, who was fast asleep against Anna’s shoulder.

"And what happens to my daughter after we unlock your vault, Victoria?" Claire asked, her voice dripping with venom. "Do we lock her in a cage too, to prepare her for the next generation of your sick games?"
Victoria didn't answer. She simply closed the briefcase with a definitive, metallic click.
