Chapter 8 - The Caymans Trap

“You’re out of your mind,” Graham laughed, a harsh, desperate sound. He looked around the table at the silent board members. “Tell this clown to leave. Avery is having a breakdown. She doesn’t have the authority to terminate me.”

“Actually, Graham, she does,” said Arthur Pendelton, the oldest and most respected member of the board. Arthur pushed a thick stack of documents down the polished wood toward Graham. “We received these at two in the morning. Forensic audits.”

Graham stared at the documents like they were poisonous snakes.

“Avery holds fifty-one percent of the voting shares,” Silas explained, leaning back in his leather chair, entirely relaxed. “You attempted to dilute her shares last month through a phantom acquisition in the Cayman Islands. A very sloppy move, Graham.”

“I did no such thing!” Graham lied, his face flushing a dangerous shade of red.

“The paper trail says otherwise,” Silas continued. “You forged her signature on four separate authorizations while you were claiming she was too ‘exhausted’ to work. You transferred corporate funds to a private offshore account. The SEC was notified at dawn. Your assets are frozen, and you are currently trespassing in my client's building.”

“I am the founder of this company!” Graham roared, standing up so fast his chair crashed to the floor.

“You were a charismatic face,” Arthur corrected coldly. “Avery was the architect. We are voting unanimously to uphold her decision. You are removed from the board, effective immediately.”

Graham looked at the men and women he had manipulated for years. None of them met his eye. The evidence was irrefutable.

“She won't get away with this,” Graham hissed, his voice dropping to a venomous whisper. “I will take the baby. I will tie her up in court until she is entirely broken.”

“You can try,” Silas smiled thinly. “But I wouldn't recommend it.”
