Chapter 7 - The Boardroom Surprise

|

Graham didn't sleep. He spent the entire night pacing the empty townhouse, drinking scotch, and screaming at his wealth management team, none of whom could bypass the federal lock on his accounts.

By 7:00 a.m., he put on a fresh suit, masking his panic with a layer of arrogant fury, and ordered his driver to take him to the Cole Meridian Tower.

“I am going to crush her,” Graham muttered in the backseat, downing an espresso. “She thinks she can play corporate warfare with me? I built this empire.”

He conveniently forgot that my father’s money had provided the seed capital, and my strategic acquisitions had grown the firm to a multi-billion dollar valuation.

Graham strode into the executive boardroom on the fiftieth floor at exactly 8:00 a.m. The entire board of directors was already seated. The atmosphere in the room was thick, suffocating, and distinctly hostile.

“Let’s get this emergency session started,” Graham barked, taking his place at the head of the long mahogany table. “My wife is currently experiencing a severe medical episode. I need a motion to grant me emergency sole conservatorship over her voting shares.”

No one moved. No one spoke.

Then, the heavy glass doors of the boardroom swung open.

Silas Vance, my notoriously ruthless attorney, walked in. He was wearing a perfectly tailored charcoal suit and carrying a thick leather briefcase.

“I’m afraid that motion is entirely out of order, Graham,” Silas said, his voice carrying a dark, amused gravel.

“Who let you in here, Vance? Security!” Graham shouted, slamming his palm on the table.

“Security works for the majority shareholder,” Silas replied smoothly, taking the seat directly opposite Graham. “And as of midnight last night, my client has officially terminated your role as CEO, pending a federal investigation into massive corporate fraud.”
