Chapter 15 - The Ambush Deal

|

Graham was led into the sterile, glass-paneled visitation room. His junior attorney wasn't sitting at the table.

I was.

I wore a tailored black maternity blazer that perfectly highlighted my thirty-three-week bump. Marcus stood directly behind my chair, his arms crossed, watching Graham with lethal intent.

Graham froze in the doorway, his eyes wide, drinking in the sight of me. He looked pathetic. The arrogant billionaire had been replaced by a hollowed-out, trembling shell of a man.

“Avery,” he breathed, sitting down slowly across from me. He placed his handcuffed wrists on the metal table. “You came.”

“I came to offer you a deal, Graham,” I said, my voice completely devoid of emotion.

“I’ll take it,” he said instantly, leaning forward, tears springing to his eyes. “Whatever it is, I’ll take it. Just get me out of here, Avery. Please. I’m sorry. I was stupid. I let Tessa manipulate me.”

“Do not insult me by blaming the mistress,” I warned, my eyes narrowing. “You made your choices. Now, here are mine.”

I slid a thick folder across the table.

“Inside are the final divorce papers, completely terminating your parental rights to this child,” I explained smoothly. “Along with a corporate surrender document, officially signing over your remaining forty-nine percent of the company to me.”

Graham stared at the folder in horror. “You want everything. You want to leave me with absolutely nothing.”

“If you sign these papers right now,” I continued, ignoring his panic, “I will instruct Silas to hand over the decrypted offshore ledgers to your defense team. It will give you enough leverage to negotiate a plea deal. You’ll serve five years instead of twenty.”

“And if I don't sign?” he whispered, his hands shaking.

“If you don't sign,” I smiled, that same terrifying smile from the gala, “I bury the ledgers. And you die in a federal cage.”
