Chapter 35 - The Boardroom Ghost | The emergency board meeting was held at 2:00 PM in the high-rise tower downtown. The atmosphere was somber, but beneath the surface, greed was running rampant.

"We have to liquidate the assets immediately to prevent total insolvency," Arthur Pendelton announced, standing at the head of the long glass table. "With Claire gone, there is no leadership left to navigate this crisis."
"Isn't this a bit rushed, Arthur?" another board member asked nervously. "The police haven't even officially identified the remains from the estate."
"The company is bleeding millions every hour!" Arthur barked, slamming his fist on the table. "We vote on the liquidation package NOW. I have a buyer lined up—a private equity group willing to take the debt off our hands."
"A private equity group called Aegis Holdings, perhaps?"
The doors to the boardroom flew open with a loud bang.
The entire room turned, gasping in collective horror.
I stepped into the room, flanked by two federal marshals and Julian Vance. I was wearing a sharp, snow-white suit, my hair slicked back, looking impeccably alive.
Arthur dropped his pen, his face turning an ash-gray color. "Claire... you... you were in the house..."
"I survived the fire, Arthur," I said, walking slowly down the center of the room, my heels clicking rhythmically against the marble floor. "And I brought some friends with me."

The federal marshals moved swiftly, stepping around the table toward Arthur.
"Arthur Pendelton, you are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, corporate espionage, and insider trading," the lead marshal declared, snapping handcuffs around his wrists.
