Margaret stood up from her chair in the back, her voice shaking with rage. “This is illegal! You are ruining my son’s life because of a personal grudge! Board members, are you really going to let this woman push him out?!”
The board members looked at each other nervously, but nobody spoke up to defend her.
I reached into my briefcase, pulled out a flash drive, and handed it to the IT director standing near the display screen. “Plug this in, please.”
The large wall-mounted monitor flickered to life. Instantly, the video recording from the previous night played in high definition across the screen.
The entire boardroom watched in stunned silence as Nathan pushed the porcelain basin across the dining table, demanded that I kneel, and then threw the property deed into the fireplace when he didn't get his way. The audio echoed through the room’s surround-sound speakers with horrifying clarity.
When the video finished, the IT director quickly stepped back, and the board members turned to stare at Nathan with utter disgust.
The senior board member, a gray-haired man who had been a long-time friend of Nathan’s father, cleared his throat and looked at Nathan. “Nathan… is this how you conduct yourself?”
Nathan opened his mouth, but no words came out. His face burned with a shame far worse than the splash of water I had thrown at him the night before.
“A public relations firm has already picked up on the incident,” Evelyn added smoothly. “If this video hits the local news, Caldwell Logistics will lose every corporate contract we have within forty-eight hours. Terminating Nathan immediately is the only way to save the firm.”

The senior board member raised his hand. “I move to accept the trust’s resolution to remove Nathan Caldwell as CEO.”
Every single hand at the table went up. Even Nathan’s closest allies voted against him.
