Chapter 16 - The Eviction Order
The judge did not take kindly to men who struck the elderly, nor did he appreciate blatant corporate fraud being paraded in his courtroom.
That very afternoon, the gavel fell with devastating finality. The judge issued an immediate, non-negotiable order: Javier and his entire extended family were legally required to vacate the premises of Natalia's property within exactly ten days. He granted the permanent restraining order protecting Doña Refugio, and ordered a formal, comprehensive audit into the irregular corporate payments made to the sisters.
As the court adjourned, the reality of their destruction finally set in. They were homeless, broke, and facing potential tax evasion charges.
Doña Graciela stormed out of the courtroom, trembling with an uncontrollable, impotent rage. She cornered Natalia in the marble hallway, her face twisted into an ugly, hateful snarl.
"You are a monster!" Graciela spat, pointing a shaking, manicured finger at her daughter-in-law. "You have completely ruined my daughters' lives! You destroyed our family!"
Natalia stopped walking. She didn't flinch. She looked at the older woman with a terrifying lack of hatred. It was pure, unadulterated apathy.

"No, Graciela," Natalia replied, her voice echoing calmly down the hall for everyone to hear. "I didn't ruin anything. I simply took my money back. You and your son did the rest."
Leaving the matriarch speechless and hyperventilating in the corridor, Natalia walked out the front doors of the courthouse, stepping into the bright, warm sunlight of the city. For the first time in years, she felt like she could truly breathe.
