Chapter 13 - The Living Room Confession

The camera feed displayed Javier pacing aggressively back and forth across the expensive Persian rug. Doña Graciela was sitting rigidly on the sofa, clutching her pearls, while the three sisters stood around looking completely bewildered.
Natalia turned up the volume on the tablet, the hidden microphone capturing their panicked voices perfectly.
"You promised me she would never actually cut us off!" Karla screamed, pointing an accusing finger at her mother. "My suppliers are threatening to seize my inventory! My card looks like it was reported stolen!"
"I am completely humiliated!" Jimena sobbed, burying her face in her hands. "The clinic receptionist laughed at me! What am I supposed to do?"
Mónica paced nervously behind the sofa. "Javier, what happens if the university auditors ask about the corporate payments from Natalia's firm? I don't actually work there!"
Doña Graciela glared at her son, slamming her hand on the coffee table. "Fix this immediately, Javier! You are the man of the house! Go to that hotel, drag your wife back here, and make her obey you!"
Javier looked like a cornered animal. He violently punched the drywall near the hallway, leaving a dent in the pristine paint.
"I can't fix it!" Javier roared, his voice cracking with pure terror. "She took all the files! The hard drives, the bank tokens, everything! She even took the black folder from the safe!"
The entire living room went completely, terrifyingly silent. The color drained from the sisters' faces.

"The... the payroll folder?" Jimena whispered, her voice trembling.
Sitting in the hotel room, Elena Robles let out a dark, satisfied chuckle. "There it is. The absolute guilt. I'll have my paralegal record this feed immediately. It's beautiful."
