Chapter 16

In the heart of Manhattan, Julian Rossi was executing a financial massacre. He sat at the head of the massive boardroom table, his eyes locked onto the glowing screens displaying Lorenzo Costa’s entire corporate infrastructure.
"They thought they could bleed us," Julian said, his voice smooth and deadly quiet. "They assumed we were soft because I chose peace. It is time to remind them why I built this empire in the first place."
His lead financial analyst, a sharp young man named David, looked up from his terminal. "Mr. Rossi, we’ve successfully identified Lorenzo’s primary offshore holding company. It’s a shipping conglomerate based in Genoa. It accounts for eighty percent of his clean revenue."
"Liquidate our reserve assets," Julian ordered without a second of hesitation. "Dump three billion dollars into shorting their stock. Simultaneously, I want our legal team to anonymously leak the evidence of their illegal smuggling routes to Interpol and the Italian financial police."
"Sir, shorting that much stock will expose us to massive short-term risk," David warned hesitantly.
Julian stood up, slamming his hands down on the table, silencing the entire room.
"I don't care about the risk," Julian roared, his eyes blazing with a terrifying intensity. "Lorenzo Costa threatened my family. He colluded with the woman who tried to destroy my wife. I want his stock driven into the dirt. I want his accounts frozen by the federal authorities. I want him completely, utterly bankrupt by midnight."
The analysts scrambled to execute his orders, terrified of failing the enraged CEO.
Julian walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking down at the crawling traffic of the city. He pulled out his phone, dialing a number he hadn't used in over a year. The call connected to a high-ranking official within the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

"Warden," Julian said softly. "It is time we had a conversation about the special privileges of inmate Camila Rossi. It seems she has been quite busy, and I am highly dissatisfied with your security protocols."
The battle had officially moved from the boardroom to the shadows.
