Chapter 18 - The Aftermath

The explosion of shattering crystal and groaning metal was deafening.
The grand hall was instantly filled with a thick cloud of white plaster dust, flying shards of razor-sharp glass, and the terrified screaming of the remaining guests.
As the thick dust slowly began to settle, the true carnage was revealed.
The SWAT team immediately rushed forward, heavily subduing Daniel on the floor, kicking the shotgun away and locking him in heavy steel handcuffs.
Valeria lay on her back a few feet away, covered in a thin layer of white dust, but entirely, miraculously uninjured by the falling glass.
Elena had managed to dive out of the direct impact zone, suffering deep cuts on her arms and legs from the shrapnel, but she was alive.
Daniel raised his bloody, bruised face from the marble floor, staring directly at Valeria as the paramedics rushed into the room to load her onto a trauma stretcher.
"It is not over,"
Daniel hissed through gritted teeth, blood dripping from his chin.
"It is completely over,"

Valeria replied, looking down at the monster she had married with absolute disgust.
"The entire world is going to see exactly what you are."
