Chapter 13 - The Flash Drive

"Valeria!"
Daniel’s muffled, furious voice echoed through the heavy oak doors of the library.
Valeria snapped her eyes open, looking toward the barricaded room.
"This is entirely your fault!"
Daniel shouted, banging his fist against the inside of the door.
"If you had just taken the money and vanished quietly, none of this would have to happen!"
Valeria’s brow furrowed in deep confusion.
"What money?"
Valeria asked, looking up at Elena.
Elena immediately avoided her gaze, looking down at the marble floor.
"Elena... what is he hiding?"
Valeria demanded, her voice hardening with absolute authority.
The maid remained silent for a long, heavy moment.
Then, she reached deep into the pocket of her black uniform apron and pulled out a small, silver USB flash drive.
"Your husband tried to bribe me over a month ago,"
Elena confessed quietly, handing the drive to Valeria.

Valeria stared at the tiny piece of technology in her hand, entirely paralyzed by the sheer, psychotic evil of the man she had married.
