Chapter 9 - The School Play
Sophie’s school announced their spring play—a simple production of a local folk tale. Sophie was cast as a forest animal, a role that required no speaking, just moving.
"I can't do it,"
Sophie said.
"Everyone will look at me."
"They'll be looking at the play, Sophie. And I'll be looking at you."
He spent hours helping her practice the movements in the backyard.
On the night of the play, Sophie stepped onto the stage. She looked out at the audience, searching for the familiar face. She found him in the third row.

She finished the play perfectly. She didn't shrink. She didn't hide. She walked off the stage, searching for Richard, and found him waiting with a massive bouquet of yellow daisies.
