Chapter 10 - The Unspoken Grief

They visited Claire’s grave together in May.
It was the first time Richard felt ready. He stood before the marble headstone, the cold, hard reality of his loss still fresh, even after all this time.
Sophie walked over and placed a small, hand-painted rock on the base.
"I tell her about the yellow door,"
Sophie said simply.
Richard stood behind her, his heart aching.
"I bet she loves hearing about it."
"Do you miss her, Daddy?"
"Every day, Sophie."
"Me too,"
May you like
She said, taking his hand.
They stood in the quiet garden of the cemetery, grieving in a way they hadn't been able to before. The weight was still there, but it wasn't burying them anymore.
