The school held an art show in the gymnasium.
Sophie had painted a mural of their house, but this time, the house was bright, and the people inside were smiling.
She stood beside her painting, nervous as always, but she didn't hide.

Richard said, beaming.
"You captured the light perfectly."
Sophie looked at her painting, then at the other parents milling around.
"I painted the yellow door the brightest,"
