Chapter 11 - The Arrival

The silence in the suburban house following Emma’s phone call was thick and suffocating. Margaret had scoffed at the display, rolling her eyes and muttering something about Emma "crying to her pathetic little family." Daniel had finally moved, pouring himself a cup of coffee with shaking hands, still refusing to meet Emma's gaze. Emma didn't move from her spot in the kitchen. She simply stood there, a strange, terrifying calm washing over her. She was no longer the victim; she was the eye of a hurricane that was about to make landfall.

Forty minutes later, the quiet suburban street was violently disrupted. The low, synchronized hum of high-performance engines vibrated through the floorboards of the house. Daniel frowned, setting his mug down and walking into the living room to look out the large bay window. His jaw dropped. A convoy of six black, heavily armored SUVs had just rolled to a halt, completely blocking the driveway and the street in front of their home. Before Daniel could even process the sight, the doors of the vehicles opened simultaneously. More than a dozen men in dark suits stepped out, securing the perimeter of the property with military precision. But it wasn't just private security. Interspersed among them were uniformed police officers and two plainclothes detectives.

Margaret walked into the living room, her arrogant sneer faltering as she saw the flashing blue and red lights reflecting off their expensive living room walls. "What on earth is the meaning of this?" she hissed, her voice trembling slightly.

The heavy oak front door didn't just open; it was pushed wide by a security detail, clearing the path for the man walking behind them. Richard Harrison stepped into the foyer. He wore a custom-tailored charcoal suit, his presence commanding, his eyes burning with a cold, lethal fury. He looked like exactly what he was: a man who could destroy cities with a single phone call.
