Chapter 19 - The Hospital Visit

Two days later, the massive cartel mansion was completely locked down, swarming with hundreds of loyal reinforcements. The cleanup of Héctor's betrayal was swift, brutal, and absolute. Alejandro had purged his entire organization, ensuring no trace of the traitor's conspirators remained alive.
But Valeria was entirely far away from the blood and the marble halls.
She sat in a quiet, sterile room in the best private hospital in Monterrey, holding her younger brother’s hand. Leo was pale and surrounded by complex monitors, but he was breathing steadily. The highly specialized, incredibly expensive heart surgery had been a complete and total success.
The door to the hospital room opened softly. Alejandro Ríos walked in, wearing an impeccable dark suit, looking completely out of place in the clinical environment. He wasn't accompanied by his usual army of heavy guards; he walked in alone, holding Mateo’s small hand.
Mateo immediately let go of his father and ran across the room, climbing carefully onto the edge of the hospital bed to hug Valeria tightly around the neck.
“Valeria!” the little boy said brightly, his voice growing stronger every single day.
Valeria laughed, burying her face in his dark hair. “Hello, little hero. Are you taking good care of your papa?”
“Yes,” Mateo nodded seriously, pointing a small finger at the sleeping boy in the bed. “Is that Leo?”
“That's him,” Valeria smiled warmly. “He is fixing his brave heart, just like you fixed yours.”
Alejandro stood near the foot of the bed, watching the beautiful interaction. He pulled a thick, heavy envelope from his suit jacket and placed it gently on the small table.
“The hospital bills are paid in full forever, Valeria,” Alejandro said softly, his voice carrying a profound, eternal gratitude. “And there is a deed in that envelope. A beautiful, safe house in a gated community in San Pedro. It is entirely yours. For you and your brother.”

Valeria looked up, completely stunned. “Mr. Ríos, I cannot accept a house.”
“You can, and you will,” Alejandro insisted firmly. “It is not a gift. It is an absolute debt I can never fully repay.”
