Chapter 3 - The Locked Exits

|

Isabella forced another frightened expression, though it lacked the conviction of her earlier performance. She recognized the danger in David Sterling's eyes.

"I've done nothing wrong, Mr. Sterling," Isabella stammered, taking a small step toward the door. "It was an accident. A terrible misunderstanding."

David reached into the inner pocket of his charcoal jacket and slowly pulled out his phone. He didn't look at the screen; he kept his eyes locked onto Isabella.

"I've already instructed Security to lock every exit on this floor," David stated calmly. "The elevators are disabled. The stairwells are secured."

He paused, letting the heavy, suffocating silence settle over the room, watching the panic begin to rise in Isabella's eyes.

"And before you say another word, Miss Rossi, before you invent another lie to explain the bruises on my niece..."

David took a step closer, his tall frame casting a long shadow over her.

"...you should know this entire floor, including the interior of these executive suites, is monitored by synchronized, high-definition security cameras."

For the first time that evening, the color completely drained from Isabella Rossi's face. The pristine, confident facade shattered instantly. She finally understood the magnitude of her mistake.

The cameras had seen everything. Every movement. Every word. And cameras, unlike people, never lied.

Down in the private security office on the hospital's lower level, the atmosphere was unusually silent. It was a room that usually buzzed with radio chatter and casual conversation. Now, no one reached for a cup of coffee. No one checked a phone. Every pair of eyes was fixed intensely on the main wall of monitors.

David Sterling entered the room a few minutes later, with Marcus close at his side. Marcus looked pale, his jaw set in a hard line.

"Pull the footage," David ordered the head of hospital security.

The security director nodded immediately, his hands flying across the keyboard.

"All four cameras covering the executive suite corridor and interior have already been isolated and synced, sir," he confirmed.

Within seconds, the large central screens came to life, ready to reveal the undeniable truth of what had happened in the suite.
