Chapter 20 - The Sanctuary

|
On a glorious Saturday afternoon, the sprawling manicured lawns of the Howard estate were filled with close friends, loyal family members, and the joyful celebration of a double christening.
The summer sun shone brightly over the manicured hedges, reflecting off the sparkling waters of the infinity pool. White linen canopies provided shade for guests, while a soft string quartet played melodic classical tunes near the rose garden.
Elena stood by the edge of the sparkling pool, dressed in an elegant white linen sundress, holding her healthy baby boy, Leo, while Julian cradled their baby daughter, Maya. The twins were thriving, their bright blue eyes taking in the warm, peaceful world their parents had fought so fiercely to protect.
Mrs. Howard walked over, a serene, radiant smile gracing her face. She gently stroked the soft cheeks of her grandchildren before looking up at Elena with tears of deep gratitude in her eyes.

"Elena, my dear," Mrs. Howard said softly, taking Elena's free hand into her own. "When you first joined this family, I thought you were quiet and delicate. But you had the courage to save us from our own blindness. You protected my son, you saved our employees, and you gave this family a real future."
"We protect the people we love, Mother," Elena replied with a gentle smile. "No matter what it takes."
