Chapter 18 - Through the Storm

|
Six months after the trial ended, the stormy skies over Chicago yielded to a beautiful, clear spring morning.
Inside the private maternity wing of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the quiet room was filled with the soft, miraculous sounds of newborn cries.
Elena lay in the hospital bed, exhausted yet glowing with divine happiness, holding a tiny swaddled bundle in her left arm. Beside her, Julian stood holding a second swaddled bundle, his eyes filled with tears of overwhelming love and gratitude.
The twins had arrived—healthy, strong, and perfect.
"Meet your son, Elena," Julian whispered emotionally, leaning down so she could see the baby boy. "This is Leo."
Elena smiled warmly, looking at the precious boy, then down at the delicate baby girl cradled against her chest. "And this is Maya."
The door opened softly, and Mrs. Howard stepped inside, carrying a large bouquet of white roses. Her eyes brimmed with joyful tears as she looked at her son, her daughter-in-law, and her two new grandchildren.
"They are beautiful, Elena," Mrs. Howard whispered, kneeling beside the bed and gently touching Maya's tiny hand. "They are the true blessing of this family."

Julian leaned over, pressing a soft, lingering kiss against Elena’s forehead. "You brought us through the fire, Elena. You saved my life, my mother's life, and our children's future."
"We built a foundation of truth, Julian," Elena replied softly. "And on that foundation, our children will grow."
