Chapter 13 - The Discarded Husband|

Ethan clutched the crisp legal documents in his hands, his wild eyes frantically scanning the dense lines of text. Suddenly, he let out an exaggerated, echoing laugh. It was a loud, forced sound, the desperate cackle of a cornered man desperately trying to mask his overwhelming panic.
"What the hell do you people think you're doing?" Ethan shouted.
He aggressively waved the bank's preservation notice in the air.
"Every single one of these loans was explicitly authorized by Claire! She told me to handle our finances while she was stuck in the hospital. Don't you dare try to frame me for this!" he lied.
My father stood like an immovable mountain, firmly blocking Ethan from the officers. In his hands, he held the certified custodial account records—the exact same paperwork Ethan had arrogantly insisted didn't matter just a few days ago.
"Authorized?" my father scoffed loudly. "Do you honestly think any judge in this country is going to believe my daughter signed loan documents while surgical anesthesia was actively pumping through her veins?"
"I am her husband! I have every right to half the power in this house!" Ethan bellowed.
He attempted to push past them to step back inside, but the deputy immediately grabbed his arm and held him back.

"Sir, per the direct order of the court, you have exactly thirty minutes to gather a minimum amount of personal belongings and vacate these premises immediately," the deputy warned, his face completely stern. "If you resist, I will arrest you right here for contempt of a court order."
Through the grainy screen of my phone, I watched Ethan's insufferable arrogance crumble into dust. He finally realized there was no way out. The world he mistakenly believed he could so easily manipulate had firmly and completely turned against him. He stood there, panting, looking back at the lavish interior of the house he was now being forcefully evicted from, knowing his reign of deceit was over.
