"The man is a complete idiot," Melissa sneered.
A triumphant smirk played on her lips.
"Forging an electronic signature is already a federal financial fraud charge. But executing it at a time when medical records indisputably prove you were completely comatose? That is quite literally digging his own grave," she stated.
"What do we do now?" I asked.
I gripped the paper tightly, my initial surge of anger calcifying into a terrifying, calculated calmness. I knew I had to act fast.
"I cannot let him touch another single cent," I added firmly.
"I've already prepared everything," Melissa replied, pulling out a series of authorization documents from her briefcase. "First, we are going to freeze all your credit cards and report the fraudulent activity directly to the bank. Second, I need you to sign right here to activate the asset protection clause in Lily's trust fund. He is growing desperate for cash to continue funding your sister's lavish lifestyle."
I took the pen and signed my name continuously across the pages. With every signature, I felt like I was driving a knife through the final remaining bond I had with the man I once called my husband.

"Let's cast the net," I nodded decisively. "He assumed I would be too weak from the emergency birth to fight back. Make sure every legal trap is perfectly set. We are going to bleed him dry before he even realizes he's been cut."
