Chapter 7 - The Master Plan Unveiled

|

I adjusted my hospital bed, wincing slightly as the surgical incision pulled, and began reading the printed messages Mara had handed me.

The sheer audacity and arrogance of the Bellacourt family was staggering.

Celeste had explicitly used heavily laundered vineyard funds to pay for her entire multi-million dollar wedding, funneling the money through fake floral and catering vendors she had created herself.

Victoria had explicitly ordered two trusted estate employees via text message to actively destroy specific financial records and burn the hard drives immediately after the wedding reception concluded, completely unaware that we were already monitoring the servers.

But the final set of emails, the ones that truly solidified the end of my marriage, were between Evan and his mother.

Evan had deliberately and methodically transferred my mandatory monthly trust distributions—money that was legally mine—directly into a shell company fully owned by a woman named Sarah.

"Who is Sarah?" I asked, pointing to the name on the ledger.

"Evan's mistress," Mara replied bluntly, refusing to sugarcoat the betrayal. "He’s been seeing her for two years. He bought her a condo downtown using your trust funds."

I stared at the paper, feeling a strange sense of absolute, profound relief wash over me. I wasn't heartbroken. I was liberated. They had not merely targeted the wrong woman; they had meticulously documented their own spectacular demise for her.

"Are they still in custody?" I asked, looking up from the damning files.

"No bail," Mara confirmed. "The judge considered Victoria an extreme flight risk given the offshore accounts, and Evan is facing an additional charge for accessory to unlawful imprisonment for locking you in that bathroom."

I nodded slowly, my mind shifting from auditor to architect.

"Mara, I need a notary and three very specific legal documents drafted by my personal attorney," I instructed, my voice cold and focused. "I need them here by tomorrow morning."

"What are you planning?" Mara asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I'm executing the trust's criminal-conduct clause," I said, looking back at my sleeping daughter. "I'm taking the vineyard."
