Mara handed me a delicate glass, taking a seat in the comfortable chair beside me. We sat in companionable silence for a moment, watching Hope stumble slightly, regain her balance with fierce determination, and continue running after the butterfly.

"The cooperative's first quarter financials are incredibly impressive, Claire," Mara noted, swirling the dark red wine in her glass. "The employees are thriving. You’ve built something truly remarkable here."

"They built it," I corrected her gently, smiling at the workers laughing together near the pressing barn. "I just finally gave them the keys."

Mara raised her glass toward the sprawling, beautiful vineyard, her sharp eyes reflecting the warm autumn sun.

"To the quiet woman they arrogantly thought was powerless," Mara offered, a fierce, proud smile touching her lips. "To the little accountant who burned their entire corrupt empire to ashes."

"No," I said softly, my eyes locking onto my beautiful, resilient daughter as she turned and ran back toward me, her arms wide open.

I set my glass down, kneeling to catch her as she barreled into my chest, burying my face in her soft, warm hair.

"To the child," I whispered, kissing the top of Hope's head, "who taught me absolutely everything I needed to know about never, ever staying behind a locked door."
