Chapter 16 - A Glimpse of the Future

We sat on the terrace, sipping tea and watching the sun begin to set over the rolling hills. Hope was playing nearby, her laughter ringing out clear and bright.
"The place looks amazing, Claire," Mara said, gesturing around. "You've really turned it into something special."
"It wasn't just me," I replied humbly. "It was the team. They poured their hearts into this."
"You led the way," she insisted. "You gave them the opportunity. You showed them what was possible."
I smiled, feeling a deep sense of satisfaction. I had not only survived the darkness, but I had used it to fuel a brighter future for myself, my daughter, and everyone around me.
"So, what's next for the little accountant?" Mara teased, raising an eyebrow.
"I think the little accountant is done counting grapes," I laughed. "I'm focusing on the bigger picture now."
"And what does that look like?"
"It looks like a community," I said, gazing out over the vineyards. "A place where people are valued, where hard work is rewarded, and where everyone has a voice."
Mara raised her teacup. "To the community."
