Chapter 40 - The Unbroken Horizon

Three years had passed since I stood on this very terrace and watched the heavy oak doors open for the first time. The sunlit coastal property was no longer just a refuge; it was the beating heart of a nationwide movement for survivor empowerment, legal reform, and absolute autonomy.

I stood on the sprawling terrace, looking out at the endless expanse of the ocean as the morning sun broke brilliantly over the horizon. The golden light washed across the white stone walls, chasing away every remaining shadow. I reached up and lightly touched my cheek; the faint white scar from his ring was completely lost beneath my skin, a forgotten footnote in a history I had rewritten myself.

Marcus approached quietly, holding the morning manifest and a fresh cup of Earl Grey tea. "The first delegation from the Pacific Northwest facility is arriving this afternoon, Ms. Ward. Everything is set."

I took the tea from his hand, breathing in the deep, clean air of a world that belonged entirely to me. I looked toward the front gates, where women were walking freely, stepping into a future no man would ever be allowed to control again.

I smiled, feeling an absolute, unbreakable peace settle deep within my soul.

"Let them in," I said.
