Chapter 11 - The Evidence of Betrayal

|

An hour later, I was sitting in the secure, soundproof conference room of my legal team's downtown office. The storm raged outside, throwing sheets of rain against the floor-to-ceiling windows. Naomi Chen, sharp-eyed and relentlessly efficient, stood at the head of a long mahogany table covered in neatly organized files and printed digital evidence.

For the past two years, Adrian had aggressively used my name to court high-level investors for his real estate firm, Vale Crest Developments. He had claimed that our impending marriage would give him exclusive access to Halcyon’s prime international properties. He had recklessly borrowed millions against development contracts that simply did not exist, promising his nervous lenders that my massive portfolio would easily secure his mounting debt the second the wedding concluded.

Naomi spread the damning evidence across the polished wood. There were forged emails with my fake digital signature, counterfeit board resolutions he had drafted in his home office, secret audio recordings from an investigator I had hired months ago, and a trove of intercepted text messages between Adrian and Celeste.

I picked up one printed message thread. It was sent from Celeste just two days before the wedding. It read: Once she signs the transfer, we control the voting shares. After that, she can easily be replaced or medicated. She is too weak to fight back.

Naomi slid another file toward me. It contained high-resolution surveillance photographs of a beautiful, blonde woman named Sienna Hart. She was standing in the living room of Adrian’s luxury apartment, drinking champagne and wearing the expensive diamond necklace that Adrian had reported stolen to the insurance company six months prior.

My initial heartbreak evaporated, hardening into something clean, sharp, and utterly merciless.

"I've seen enough," I said.
