Chapter 8 - THE MASTER'S OATH|

By nightfall, the storm had cleared, leaving a dark, star-filled sky over the estate.
In the grand dining room, where no one had sat for five years, the massive crystal chandelier was fully lit. At the head of the polished table sat Damon Cain. To his right sat Rosa, wearing a simple but elegant dress provided from the guest wardrobes. Beside her sat Sophia, happily eating a plate of freshly made pasta while Zeus rested his massive head comfortably in her lap.
"The east wing is being prepared for you," Damon said, setting down his wine glass. "It has three bedrooms, a private garden entrance, and a playroom."
"It's too much," Rosa murmured, still overwhelmed by the sudden shift in her reality. "Two days ago I was wondering how I would pay for Sophia's winter coat."
"You will never worry about money again," Damon stated, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Elena left a trust fund for her family. Half of my estate's logistics network belongs to her line. Technically, Rosa, you own a third of this property."
Rosa stared at him in disbelief. "What?"
"My empire was built with Elena's family capital," Damon explained quietly. "When she passed, I buried myself in work and shadows. I let this house turn into a fortress because I had nothing left to protect. But today, that changes."
He leaned across the table, his gray eyes locking onto Rosa's.
"I make you a solemn vow," Damon said. "As long as breath remains in my body, no harm will come to you or your daughter. My enemies are vast, but my wall is impenetrable."
Sophia wiped her mouth with a napkin and looked up at Damon. "Are you my uncle now?"
May you like
Damon looked at the child, a warmth filling his cold chest that he hadn't felt in ten long years.
"If you want me to be, little one," Damon replied softly. "I would be honored."
