Chapter 15 - THE RETRIBUTION|

At Pier 42, the rain poured down heavily over stacks of rusted shipping containers.

Victor Valenti stood near the edge of the dock, frantically yelling at his men as they loaded crates of cash onto a fast motorboat.

"Hurry up, you fools!" Victor screamed. "Damon Cain will be here any minute!"

"He's already here, Victor," a cold voice echoed from the top of a shipping container.

Victor spun around, pulling his revolver.

Damon stepped out into the rain, illuminated by the floodlights of three black SUVs blocking the dock's exit. Behind him stood thirty loyal guards, their weapons drawn and aimed.

Victor backed away toward the edge of the pier, his face pale with terror. "Damon... wait! We can make a deal! I'll give you all my territory! Fifty percent of the harbor!"

"You tried to poison my family," Damon said smoothly, stepping down from the container with slow, deliberate steps. "You sent men into my home where a six-year-old child sleeps."

"It was just business!" Victor shrieked.

"In my world, family is not business," Damon growled.

Damon didn't fire a bullet. He simply gestured with his hand.

Lev stepped forward, pressing a button on a remote detonator.

A series of small, controlled charges exploded beneath Victor's motorboat, sinking the vessel into the churning dark waters of the harbor in seconds. All the cash crates sank to the bottom.

Victor fell to his knees on the wet wood, sobbing hysterically. "Please... Damon... spare me!"

"You will spend the rest of your life in a maximum-security facility under federal custody, Victor," Damon said coldly as federal agents stepped out from behind the SUVs. "I gave your offshore ledgers to the Department of Justice ten minutes ago. You are finished."
