Chapter 12 - MIDNIGHT SIEGE|
The black armored SUV slammed through the estate gates at eighty miles an hour, its tires screeching on the wet gravel.
Lev slammed the vehicle into park right outside the main steps, jumping out to open Rosa's door.
"Inside! Move!" Lev barked into his radio. "Team B, full lockdown! The Valenti Syndicate is mobilizing!"
Rosa rushed into the main foyer, her heart beating frantically against her ribs.
Sophia ran down the grand staircase, wrapped in her small pajamas, with Zeus bounding right behind her.
"Mommy!" Sophia cried, throwing her arms around Rosa's waist. "What were those loud noises on the radio?"
"It's okay, baby, it's okay," Rosa breathed, lifting Sophia into her arms and holding her tightly.
Suddenly, the estate's emergency lights flashed red, and an iron security blast-door slammed shut over the main glass entryway.
BOOM!
A heavy explosion shook the ground outside, sending dust raining down from the chandelier. The perimeter walls had been breached.
"They trailed us from the hotel!" Lev growled, pulling an assault rifle from the concealed wall cabinet. "Rosa, take the child down to the panic vault beneath the library!"
Before Rosa could step toward the stairs, the heavy wooden side doors of the gallery splintered open. Five masked Valenti mercenaries burst into the foyer, automatic weapons raised.
"Secure the woman and the kid!" the lead mercenary shouted. "Victor wants them alive!"

Rosa backed away into a corner, holding Sophia behind her back, her mind racing in sheer terror.
The mercenaries stepped forward, their guns pointed directly at Rosa's chest.
