Chapter 7 - FORGOTTEN BLOODLINES|

The revelation hung in the air, thick and unbelievable.

"You've been cleaning my house for two years," Damon whispered, staring at Rosa's face, suddenly seeing the undeniable resemblance around her brow and eyes. "And you were family the entire time."

"I didn't know," Rosa wept, pressing her hand to her mouth. "I thought Elena died in Europe. I didn't know she married... I didn't know who you were."

Damon looked down at Sophia, who was watching them both with wide, curious eyes. The little girl had Elena’s jawline, the same subtle curve of the chin that had haunted his dreams for a decade.

"Your mother was Elena's sister," Damon told Sophia softly, kneeling down once more. "Which means you belong here."

"Does that mean I get to see Zeus every day?" Sophia asked, looking down at the giant dog resting beside her.

A faint, rare smile touched Damon's lips. "Yes, Sophia. Every single day."

He looked back up at Rosa, his expression turning resolute. "Pack your things from the staff quarters. You are moving into the family wing tonight."

"Mr. Cain—Damon—I can't accept that," Rosa protested, wiping her tears. "I am just a maid here. The staff will talk, and your associates—"

"The staff will do as they are told, or they will be replaced," Damon interrupted firmly. "And as for my associates, they will learn that you are under my personal protection. You are family now, Rosa. And in my world, family is sacred."

He turned to Mrs. Gable, who was still cowering near the doorway, terrified for her life.

"Mrs. Gable," Damon said coldly. "Gather your belongings and leave the estate before I decide to review your accounting logs as well."

The old housekeeper didn't say a word. She scrambled out of the room as fast as her legs could carry her.
