Chapter 19 - THE CIPHERED LETTER|

"Elena is... alive?" Rosa choked out, her mind spinning in pure shock. "How could she be alive after ten years?"

"It's a fake," Lev insisted, reaching for the letter. "It's a mind game sent by Valenti's remnants to throw us off balance!"

"It isn't a fake," Damon said, his voice dropping into a hollow whisper. He pointed to a small, hidden symbol drawn in the bottom corner of the page—a tiny star with three dots beneath it. "This was a private cipher only Elena and I used when we were in hiding."

Damon stood up, pacing back and forth across the room, his mind torn between immense shock, disbelief, and a strange, overwhelming dread.

For ten years, his entire existence had been defined by Elena's tragic death. Every decision, every dark act, every wall he had built around his heart was rooted in her loss.

He turned to look at Rosa.

Rosa stood frozen near the desk, her eyes wide with a painful mixture of confusion and heartbreak.

In her hand, she still felt the lingering warmth of Damon's touch from the bench just an hour ago.

"If she's alive..." Rosa whispered, her voice cracking slightly. "Where has she been all this time? Who took her?"

"The Syndicate's high council in Marseilles," Damon growled, his gray eyes darkening. "If they kept her alive for ten years, it was to use her as the ultimate lever against me."

Suddenly, the landline phone on Damon's desk began to ring.
