Gustavo’s aggressive, highly funded smear campaign was designed to cripple the prosecution, but it ironically triggered a massive, overwhelmingly powerful backlash. The vicious rumors circulating about Marina finally struck a nerve with the former employees of the household—people who had previously chosen to remain silent out of sheer terror of Gustavo’s retaliatory power. Seeing Marina bravely standing her ground in the public eye, they finally decided to step out of the shadows and speak their truth.
The very first person to proactively contact Marina’s legal team was Maria, the dedicated nanny who had cared for Sofia since birth, but who had been abruptly and cruelly fired by Gustavo a year prior. Standing confidently before the judge, Maria testified with absolute clarity:
"I worked in that penthouse for three years. I never, not once, saw Ms. Marina exhibit any signs of mental instability. On the contrary, she was a deeply devoted and wonderful mother. It was Mr. Gustavo who was the true monster. On countless occasions, I heard terrifying screaming and vicious cursing coming from the master bedroom, followed by the sickening sound of furniture being smashed. The next morning, Ms. Marina would always wear large sunglasses and heavy long sleeves, even in the dead of summer. He explicitly threatened to completely ruin my life and my career if I ever breathed a word of it to anyone."
Following Maria’s explosive testimony, Carlos, the family’s former private chauffeur, also volunteered to take the stand.

"My actual job wasn't to safely drive the madam around; my job was to act as her warden," Carlos admitted truthfully to the court. "The boss forced me to meticulously log every single place she went and every person she spoke to. One afternoon, she simply went to a cafe to have tea with an old college friend. He went absolutely insane, ordering me to physically block her friend’s car in the parking lot and forcefully drag her back to the estate. The level of psychological imprisonment he subjected her to was absolutely horrifying."
The emergence of these credible, firsthand witnesses completely shattered Gustavo’s defense strategy. Their testimonies didn't just add weight to the physical evidence; they fully exposed his tyrannical, sadistic nature to the legal system and the watching world.
